In the spirit of catching up:
Here are some Easter pictures from last year. LAST YEAR! (I am NOT pregnant again.) I already mentioned that I'm a year behind.
We hide the Easter candy all over the yard, and the kids hunt for it on Easter morning. It has become our little tradition. We have ways of making sure the kids get equal amounts (or the amount we think they should have).

Oliver LOVED finding candy, and Milo was adorable! The big brothers were great helpers.
We got back from New York just a few short days before Halloween. I had a plan to have all the Halloween costumes ready
before we left for our trip...or at least have all the materials assembled so that I could quickly make them. But since I have never been very good at juggling a billion things like packing, grocery shopping, cleaning, getting house ready for sitters, AND making costumes...you can guess that the least important thing didn't happen. So I didn't get around to making the little boys' costumes and the adults' costumes (the adults were going to be trees and the little guys were going to be owls...riding on the trees). But the big boys' costumes came together nicely, in a fast and furious kind of way. Finished just about 10 minutes before their school costume carnival! Whew!
But first:
10/25/12 - The day after we got back from NY and saw our precious children again!
the big guys wearing their I ({heart} NY shirts that we got them in Chinatown. Can you guess which boy does NOT like wearing a shirt with a heart on it? Partent FAIL!
And we were not up to the challenge of getting a picture with all the kids holding still, apparently.

And now...on to the Hobbitses:
Here we have Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee with their hot out of the sewing room costumes. Actually, it wasn't too hard. I only had to sew one cloak (the other one was from our jedi costume), and the suspenders. I bought the pins and THE RING off of amazon. And I bought shirts, pants (which I cut off) and wigs at the Goodwill thrift store. I know that Sam wig is a little gran-gran crazy! It took me a few days to get it to relax.

I gave up on the idea of making a costume for Ollie and just decided to go with something we already had. We thought this Leiderhosen grandma sent from Austria was ADORable!
On actual Halloween he wore a cute owl hat with it and looked like the Tootsie Pop owl. I would like to post a picture, but the pictures are on my phone and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get them on blogger with my new imac. URGH.

A sublime Saturday morning found us at Central Park with the rest of residents of the borough of Manhattan. There were people
everywhere...biking, jogging, working out with personal trainers, doing yoga with a group of cohorts, kids playing soccer, tourists riding in pedi-cabs. Central Park is
clearly the place to be on Saturday. Riding bikes in Central Park is one of my sister and her husband's favorite things to do on their day off, and it is a really great way to see ALL of Central Park and do a lot of people watching at the same time! So Brent and I rented bicycles and joined the citizens of Manhattan on their favorite Saturday past time.
There are many things you have to know about riding bikes in New York City. It is a great way to get around. You CANNOT ride on the sidewalks, unless you want to get chewed out by very verbal elderly women. When riding through Central Park, you ignore the pedestrian stop lights or you will get plowed over by the serious roadies. The only exceptions to that rule would be if an actual pedestrian is waiting to cross, or if a police officer is nearby...although I'm told they don't often pay attention to the minor infractions to the law. The New York way of life is very different than the west coast, indeed, as I have been told by many people.

The Bethesda Fountain has to be the most beautiful place in Central Park. LOVED it!

Milo was such a great sport on this whole trip and just loved being packed around all over the place!
4 months is an easy age to travel!
Strawberry Fields is the little corner of the Park right by where John Lennon used to live and where he was assassinated. It is said that he used to hang out in this part of the park, as it was right by his penthouse. Brent is a great fan of the Beatles, so this was particularly fun for him.
This imagine circle was a really fun place to watch tourists from all over the world. There were British, French, German, etc, etc, lining up all over the place to take a picture in this circle. When someone moved out, another person or group would jump right in. Brent had to be quick! A large group of German teenage girls took a picture laying on their backs all around the circle. It was so cool, I wanted to take a picture...but I wasn't quick enough!
After our bike ride, we drove up to Little Italy in the Bronx and ate Italian dinner and Italian pastries! So fun! And then after that, we drove up out of New York City for about an hour to Sleepy Hollow for a Halloween Pumpkin Blaze! It was really awesome! There were thousands and thousands of carved pumpkins lit and arranged into displays all around the Sleepy Hollow manner. It was very festive, and not too scary...which is exactly what I like! My only wish is that we could have spent a little more time up there around Sleepy Hollow to see a little more of New York, out of the city.
We had a lovely little fourth...a quiet day, with a two-day-old baby. My sisters brought a picnic dinner over to eat together in our backyard, we did sparklers and other small firecrackers in our front yard, and we gathered up the courage to trek over to the big park for the large firework display. It was a little grueling with a two-day postpartum mama...but it was SO worth it to watch little Oliver enjoy the fireworks. "Wow! Big lights in the sky!"
Love my sweet little Ollie. Love that he loves his kitty so much.

On New Years Eve day we met up with my sisters and their families and went for a hike. My older sister {who does not have kids, by the way} picked out this hike. It was an amazing hike. But kind of scary, even for just me. Maybe too scary to take kids on. Nail-biting, edge of your seat-scary to bring kids and their cousins, who-like-to-play-and-run-along-the-trail while their hiking.
But the amazing thing about this hike was all the WATER. After a rainy week, it was a WET place. Cliffs everywhere = waterfalls everywhere. Despite our close attention to our kids, we managed to get a few photos. And we all came back alive, thankfully...cause I just can't take any more of that death stuff.
