can you believe that we FORGOT to take a picture of the outside of our yurt?
So that's not our yurt...but ours looked just like it.

hanging out in the yurt before bedtime.
Brent eating yogurt in our yurt. It just made sense.
When we planned this little excursion, we were thinking cold and rain. We brought board games to play inside, we planned on mostly spending time at museams and visitor centers to stay out of the weather as much as possible....
BUT...what we got was SUNSHINE, blue skies and temps in the 50's! How do we get so lucky?
we played on Peter Iredale's shipwreck
We drove up and down the beach and turned donuts...solotude, the beauty of coming in the off season.
We soaked in the sunny beauty
and watched the birds and the waves
I experimented with settings on the camera
We watched some darker clouds ALMOST come in (but not quite)
we enjoyed spending time together
We explored some of the old batteries from WWII (which protected the Colombia River from potential Japenese invaders)
and climbed some trees apparently
We visited Lewis and Clark at Fort Clatsop and learned a lot about Northwest Indians and Lewis and Clark's journey.
Lewis and Clark
Fort Clatsop replica...the end of Lewis and Clark's journey...where they hunkered down for the winter on the Clatsop Indian land
testing out one of the beds in the fort
we headed down the trail to the canoe landing on the river...
and found a Lewis and Clark dugout canoe
you need to be careful because moss starts to grow on you if you stand around for too long
Brent/Toby jumping out to scare Joshua and an interesting shaped fallen tree
Fun and exhausting weekend...

What a wonderful time with your family. That is such a beautiful spot in the world.
STOP!!! Stop blogging like this. Here I am, breathing in straight pollution and you're posting things like this. It's making me crazy to live in SLC right now! Way to go for never letting life pass you by.
LOVE the picture of Josh with moss everywhere. Hilarious!! A true Oregonian. :) Looks like such a fun trip!
How fun! I love Ft. Stevens and fabulous beach pics!
